Wes Bellamy is the Vice Mayor of the City of Charlottesville. He joins Coy to discuss the news he made recently when he publicly called for the 1924 statue to Robert E. Lee to be removed from a public park in downtown. As a public school teacher and the youngest member of the Virginia State Board of Education, Wes also explores the challenges facing Virginia’s schools, especially in their efforts to overcome institutional racism and best provide for young people of color.
